HighlightMe is a camera app that continuously records a short rolling buffer of video and lets you save the last several seconds to your photo library when something worth keeping happens. It is built to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
- No user accounts and no login — you never give us your name, email, or any identifying information.
- No analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
- Your videos never leave your device except to be saved into your own Apple Photos library, which only you control.
- All video and pose processing happens on your device.
Information we do not collect
HighlightMe does not have a server or backend of its own. It does not send your video, audio, images, or usage data anywhere. We have no way to see your recordings or how you use the app.
Camera and microphone
HighlightMe uses the camera and microphone to record video and audio. This is the core function of the app. The video and audio are held only in a temporary on-device buffer and are processed entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded. When you are not saving a clip, buffered footage is continuously discarded and overwritten.
Photo library
When you save a clip, HighlightMe writes that video file into your Apple Photos library using the system's add-only permission. HighlightMe only adds clips you choose to save; it does not read, browse, modify, or delete your existing photos or videos. Once a clip is in Photos, it is governed by Apple's Photos and iCloud settings, which you control.
On-device processing (pose and gesture detection)
HighlightMe can start a save automatically when it detects a gesture (such as a thumbs-up). This detection uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. The analysis runs locally on your device in real time. No images, video frames, or detection results are stored or transmitted.
Apple Watch
If you use HighlightMe with an Apple Watch, the app communicates with the paired watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework to relay simple state (such as recording status) and to let the watch trigger a save. This communication happens directly between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch. No data is sent to us or to any third party.
Subscriptions and payments
HighlightMe offers an auto-renewing subscription. All purchases, billing, and renewals are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. HighlightMe does not receive or store your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID. Your subscription entitlement is managed by Apple and tied to your Apple ID. Third-party services
HighlightMe does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external party involved is Apple, which provides the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud/Photos, and the operating system frameworks the app relies on. Apple's handling of that data is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Data security
Because HighlightMe does not collect or transmit your data, there is no personal data held by us to be lost or breached. Video you save stays within your own device and Apple Photos, protected by your device's security and your Apple account settings.
Children
HighlightMe is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
